I did enjoy this book but I did have to suspend reality a bit I thought the basic supposition was good As a long time reader of sailing wartime fiction I found the explanations of Naval terminology however this book would be a good starter for a total novice Thus I did not let them bother me I did find that there were many things not uite right Eg a frigate that size would have than 2 Officers It would certainly have some midshipmen as that normal running of the ship would demand it Even the French would not attack other ships in a neutral harbour There are other instances of impossibilities but I won t go into them All that said I am going to read volume 2 1 to see how Jonathon crows and to see if the inaccuracies are deminished
